Meet Dr. Maria Messing
Dr. Messing was born and raised in Mexico City. She attended UNITEC School of Dentistry there and received her dental degree in 2006.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Messing practiced as a general dentist in private practice for a couple of years in Mexico City. During her clinical preparation, Dr. Messing developed a strong passion for endodontics, which led her to move to Houston to pursue her dream of becoming an Endodontist. After participating in the Preceptorship Program at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, she was admitted to the Endodontic Residency where she earned her Master in Dental Science Degree in Endodontics in 2016.
During her residency, Dr. Messing was actively involved in research and obtained the First Place award at the AAE Annual Sessions for her Table Clinic presentation. Dr. Messing later obtained an AAE Grant for her Master Thesis Project: “Investigating potential correlations between endodontic pathology and cardiovascular diseases using epidemiological and genetic approaches”. She obtained the Seventh Place Award for Oral Research Presentation Category at the AAE Annual Session in April 2018. In 2019 her Thesis research project was published in the Journal of Endodontics and she obtained national recognition by obtaining an Award for the Best Clinical Research Paper of 2019 in the Journal of Endodontics by the American Association of Endodontists.
Dr. Messing holds Board-Eligibility with the American Board of Endodontics. She is a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association and is a member of the Greater Houston Dental Society.
Dr. Messing is married and has a seven year old girl and a two and a half year old boy. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family and immersing herself in new cultures and cuisines. She loves animals, the ocean and reading about nutrition and parenting.
